Our Under 19 Netball team showcased incredible skill, determination and teamwork throughout as they put in a valiant effort at the Sisters N Sport National Finals in Loughborough.

In the opening match, the girls faced Merchant Taylor’s School. From the first whistle, they hit the ground running, displaying excellent ball movement and clinical finishing in the attacking circle. By the end of the first quarter, they had established a 6-3 lead. However, the opposition came back strong, quickly levelling the score and edging ahead, with the score standing at 7-6 at halftime in favour of Merchant Taylor’s. Colyton showed great resilience in the third quarter, fighting back to take a 13-11 lead. The girls gave everything that they had in an exhilarating final quarter, holding their composure to clinch a narrow 16-15 victory, securing a place in the National Final.

The final saw our team face a challenging Aldenham School team. Aldenham started strong, with an aggressive and physical style of play that put Colyton on the back foot. By the end of the first quarter, they had built a commanding 6-1 lead. The girls worked hard in the second quarter to regain some control, with solid efforts in the centre court, but Aldenham maintained their dominance and the scoreline stood at 13-2 at halftime.

After captain Matilda gave a powerful halftime team talk, the girls came out fighting in the third quarter. Their pressure on the ball forced mistakes from Aldenham, and they were able to score several crucial goals, narrowing the deficit. Despite their relentless efforts and strong performances in the final quarter, Colyton could not close the gap, with the final score ending 21-12 in Aldenham’s favour.

Regardless of the result, the girls should be incredibly proud of their performances throughout the competition. They demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, determination, and skill. Their teamwork and commitment were exemplary, and they came away National Runners-Up, an extraordinary achievement.

A special mention goes to Captain Matilda, who was named Player of the Final by the officials and organisers for her exceptional leadership, determination and resilience throughout the match. For our six Year 13 girls, this was their final game representing Colyton. Their contribution to the team over the years has been immeasurable, and we wish them the best of luck in their future netball endeavors.

This was a tournament to remember, and we are immensely proud of every player who represented Colyton on the national stage. Well done, girls!
