How to Apply for the Sixth Form
Year 11 students at Colyton do not have to make a formal application for Sixth Form - they may move on to Sixth Form if they meet the academic criteria for progression.
Every year, we welcome students to the Sixth Form from other schools. Published Admission Number (PAN) for Year 12 in September 2025 is 56. The same academic criteria for admission are applied to internal students and external applicants.
Entry Requirements Into The Sixth FormStudents will be required to achieve a minimum of 54 points from their best eight GCSEs (or equivalent) including at least grade 5 at GCSE in English and Maths or a DfE recognised equivalence.
Internal StudentsCurrent Colyton Grammar School year 11 students will be asked to complete their option choices; completion of this process will be treated as their expression of interest to continue into the sixth form. Form tutors will advise and guide them through this process. Internal students who submit option choices before the deadline, and meet the admissions criteria have a guaranteed place. Please note the same entry requirements apply to internal and external applicants. |
External ApplicantsThere is no entrance exam to join the Colyton Grammar School sixth form but external applicants need to fill in an online application form. Applications must be made directly to Colyton Grammar School using the online application form. Please contact the school if you are unable to do so. Colyton Grammar School |
Financial SupportWe believe that students should be given every opportunity to reach their full potential, which is why we can offer financial support in the form of bursaries to students who are eligible. |
Admission ProcessThe admissions process for routine admission into Year 12 in 2025/2026 begins in November. Applications must be made to Colyton Grammar School and NOT to the Local Authority. The application process will be made available from 4th October 2024 and parents/students should expect to receive an acknowledgement of their application. As a State Funded Selective Academy, there are no tuition fees for the Sixth Form at Colyton Grammar School. |
After The DeadlineDeadline for applications: 29th January 2025 Applications received after the deadline will be treated as late applications, but will be considered if submitted by 1st September 2025. Late applications will be considered once all on time applications have been dealt with. |
Fraudulent ApplicationsAny information that is subsequently proven to have been provided fraudulently will potentially invalidate that application. |
Provisional OffersAny offer of a place in the Sixth Form will be conditional upon the GCSE results achieved by the student. |
