Our Colyton swimmers delivered an outstanding performance at a recent swimming gala, hosted at Exeter School.
The Under 13 girls team put on an impressive display, securing multiple top finishes. Ava led the way with victories in the Freestyle and Individual Medley, while Julia clinched first in Breaststroke. Toria and Izzy also contributed with strong second-place finishes in Backstroke and Butterfly respectively whilst the relay teams proved unbeatable, taking first place in both the Medley and Freestyle relays.
It was an equally impressive display from the Under 13 boys, with Jacob triumphing in the Backstroke and taking second in Breaststroke. Josh dominated in Butterfly and IM, setting a new record in the latter. Their relay winning streak, securing victories in both the Medley and Freestyle events, also saw a new record set in the Medley.
The Under 15 girls built on the younger swimmers' success with a series of commanding performances. Erin P won in Backstroke, Butterfly and the Individual Medley, with Erynn M close behind in the IM, securing second place. Ellie showcased her speed by winning the Freestyle, and the Medley and Freestyle relay teams both stormed to first place, cementing the team’s dominance.
Continuing Colyton’s winning form in the Under 15 boys team, Ben won Backstroke and placed second in Freestyle with Oskabah and Ludo securing a 1-2 finish in Breaststroke. William claimed victory in Butterfly with Hamish winning both Freestyle and the Individual Medley. Both relay teams secured first place in the Medley and Freestyle.
For the Under 18 teams, Ellen was the standout swimmer for the Under 18 girls, claiming individual victories in Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Individual Medley. Izzy put in a strong performance to take second in Freestyle, with the relay teams placing second in both Medley and Freestyle. The Under 18 boys also put in a solid effort, with Billy securing a win in Breaststroke.
Colyton’s swimmers showcased incredible depth, teamwork and determination throughout the gala, with their dominant performances in the Junior and Intermediate categories securing overall victories in both events, highlighting the strength of the squad.
