Report by Lucy H, Captain
On Tuesday 9th November, we travelled to Clifton College in Bristol to take part in the regional U16 Hockey finals. To get to the finals, we qualified after playing on two separate occasions before - the East Devon round and then the Devon round. We won our first pool match 1-0 v Clayesmore and then our second pool match 2-0 v Whitecross. Unfortunately we lost our third pool match 1-2 v Truro High School but we had already qualified for the quarter-finals before the game. In the quarter finals we played King Edward’s, Bath who came top of their pool and we won 2-0. This was a fantastic match and we went into the semi-final with confidence and determination. We played a very strong Hereford Cathedral School. We managed to hold them to a draw. This meant the dreaded penalty shuffles! Unfortunately, we lost 2-3 on ‘sudden death’ shuffles to the eventual tournament winners.
We had a great day of hockey and played the best hockey of the season so far, it was an amazing all-round team performance. Thanks to Miss Shute and Miss Birchmore for taking us and supporting us. Thank you also to our team sponsor – 16A Architecture who funded some smart new training jackets. We love them and felt smart wearing them all day.PE Department
