Future Pathway Talks
BackNews - Jan 15
Last week, we had talks from a range of external providers. A visitor from The University of Sheffield spoke to Year 12 about ‘Choosing a course and University’ as part of the next stage of their journey through Sixth Form, considering their possible choices for their next steps after A-Level. This was a very useful, and hopefully inspiring session, that provided students with a clear understanding of the range of factors that they must research and consider when deciding on the courses on offer and looking at the variety of offerings from institutions around the country (and indeed the world).
This talk was followed by further talks from The University of Sheffield, Exeter College and Honeywell to two different year groups:
Year 8 had their first introduction to the benefits and possibilities of University, T-Levels and Apprenticeships, and the fascinating engineering and career possibilities – primarily degree apprenticeships – offered by the global engineering firm of which Honeywell in Yeovil is part. This was a very useful reinforcement and follow-on from their ‘Careers Morning’ towards the end of last term.
Year 10 learned about these opportunities in more detail, prompting them to think more deeply about where they might want to take the subjects that they are studying at GCSE with them when making their choices next year.
