Under 14 girls play in County Round of the National Schools Netball Competition
BackNews - Dec 16
Our Under 14 Netball team played in the County Round of the National Schools Netball Competition recently, with the girls very excited but nervous to compete in their first Devon competition.
Captained by Izzy W, the team faced strong competition in the pool matches against well drilled sides, with the matches against Ivybridge and Blundells (who went on to win the tournament) being our closest games. West Buckland and Churston out classed us on this occasion, but all matches involved outstanding resilience and determination from our whole squad. Izzy and Holly W faced some very physical defenders, with Mabel S working hard at centre whilst Ava R and Peggy J demonstrated some fantastic skills in defence. Although the team were disappointed with the results, they are looking forward to completing the East Devon League matches and are hoping to have the chance to compete in the Under 16 Devon round in the future.
After the competition at Exeter University, the teams faced Sidmouth in a league match at home. Following their busy day of Netball, the team played well despite some tired legs with Colyton making a strong start leading 13-6 at half time. They were able to extend their lead to finish the game on a score of 18-7 with player of the match going to Peggy J.
