News - Dec 10

Our Under 16 girls Rugby team have been preparing for the Colyton sevens tournament in February and the Rosslyn Park sevens tournament in March, and this week had their first taste of Rugby sevens.

Dividing into two teams, the girls embraced the opportunity to gain experience in this fast-paced format against a competitive Stover side. Colyton began the first game with determination, showcasing strong defensive organisation and resilience. Their efforts were rewarded with several good passages of play, leading to two hard-earned tries. The team’s commitment to defence and teamwork paid dividends as they managed to hold Stover and match their intensity, with the game ending in a well-deserved 10-10 draw.

Stover came out firing for the second game, capitalising on early opportunities to score two quick tries. However, Colyton responded admirably, digging deep to tighten their defence and ramp up their attacking play. The girl’s grit and determination brought them back into the match, showcasing their growing confidence and skill that they have developed since beginning their training in September. The game finished Stover 15-10 Colyton.

The girls demonstrated significant improvement and a growing understanding of Rugby sevens throughout both games with their fantastic teamwork and adaptability on full display, promising a bright future as they continue to prepare for their upcoming tournaments. Players of the match went to Clarice FO and Jasmyn K. Well done to everyone involved.
