The East Devon Cross Country Competition took place at Bicton on a bright, sunny day, in perfect running conditions for our athletes. The event saw strong performances across all age groups, with Colyton’s runners showing exceptional skill and determination at every stage.

The competition kicked off the Year 7 race, where the girls were making their debut in Cross Country. Despite the nerves of their first-ever event, they rose to the occasion in spectacular style, with the top performer from the Year 7 group being Rose D. The competition was fierce in the Junior race. Our girls ran with grit and determination, holding their ground in a tightly packed field. Molly C finished in a commendable 13th place, closely followed by Bella C in 14th. Both displayed excellent stamina and pacing, representing Colyton with pride and skill.

It was in the Intermediate Girls race where Colyton truly shone, with our athletes dominating the field. They were able to pull off a remarkable 1-2-3 finish, with Sofia L claiming victory, Lyra W securing second place and Eliza T finishing in third place. This exceptional result not only showed Colyton’s depth in talent but also secured a dominant win for the Intermediate team. Seven of our top 8 runners in this race made it through to the next round, a testament to the strength and consistency of our athletes. The senior race was another impressive display of Colyton’s class, with Kate K finishing in second place and Isabel B G securing third. Both runners maintained strong positions throughout the race, and their efforts ensured that all four of Colyton’s senior girls advanced to the next round. The team’s cohesion and commitment were evident, and their performance secured another first-place finish for Colyton.

For the girls, the day concluded with some outstanding overall results.

Year 7 – 3rd place

Juniors – 3rd place

Intermediates – 1st place with a low score of 70

Seniors – 1s place with a score of 21
