News - Oct 22

It has been a busy time for our students in sports games lately, with many taking part in Football, Hockey, Rugby and Netball games.

In Football, our Under 14 team played against Torquay Boys Grammar School. The TBGS team secured a 2-0 win over Colyton with a solid, well-rounded performance. They dominated possession and opened the scoring in the 27th minute after capitalising on a defensive lapse. Colyton struggled to break through their resolute defense but came close twice, hitting the post and forcing a great save from the TBGS goalkeeper. In the second half, the Torquay Boys Grammar School doubled their lead with a powerful strike following a swift counterattack. Despite Colyton’s efforts, TBGS held firm to claim victory and a clean sheet.

Unfortunately, this means that our run in the National cup is over, but we have the East Devon leagues and Devon Cup to look forward to.

Our Under 16 boys Rugby team recently travelled to Sidmouth where they dominated from start to finish. Dominant tackling in defense and strong running lines whilst attacking with ball in hand led to a comfortable 45-10 victory. Well done to everyone involved.

In Netball, our Under 16 team took part in the East Devon Netball Tournament. After a difficult start losing a game 12-5 to Uffculme, the team came back strong with an excellent performance against Kings, winning 9-2 and against Axe Valley winning 20-0. A true test of character and good teamwork. We now go onto the next round to represent East Devon at the county finals in November.

Our Under 18 girls Hockey team travelled to Blundells for the annual Devon Hockey Tournament. Colyton played extremely well throughout and grew in confidence as the day went on. They were solid in defense and worked well up the pitch, facing some strong opposition but working well as a team and continuing to battle throughout. Player of the tournament went to Rose who was outstanding in goal. Well done to everyone involved.
