Our Under 14 netball team recently travelled to Kings to take part in the annual East Devon Tournament. Having finished in second place in the East Devon League last year, the girls were excited to get going.

Our first pool match was against Uffculme School. It was a very closely contested match with some excellent play from both sides. Fortunately, with some amazing defence from Ava and Peggy, our team was able to pull away in the second half, winning 6-4. Next up were Honiton Community College, where Dorothy should be acknowledged for her fantastic support in mid court and her confidence to play centre in the second half. This match finished 12-4 for Colyton.

In the final game of the pool, we faced a strong Exmouth College side (the eventual winners), who had been demonstrating some clinical shooting throughout their matches. With a strong start and some fantastic long-range shots from Issy, we were two goals up at half time. The girls worked hard to maintain a quality performance throughout the court finishing with a 9-7 win. Having won our pool, we now faced Kings in the semi-final. The first half was extremely close with both sides becoming a little flustered. After a reset at half time, the girls fought hard, but the game ended 5-4 to Kings. A very disappointed team soon bounced back though in the 3rd place play off against Axe Valley winning 10-6. Not the overall result we wanted, but the girls will be more determined to clinch the league title later this season.
