News - Oct 9

Many of our girl’s teams have recently taken part in Hockey Games, both at home and away.

In an Under 15 fixture, Colyton hosted Uffculme with our team starting extremely well pressing as a team up the pitch and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Lucy S, Emma P and Camarra H were clinical and converted all their chances. At half time, the score was 3-0. Colyton came out even stronger in the second half, defending well and not letting the opposition in our half. Beattie W got herself on the score sheet, and Camarra H finished the game on a hat trick of goals. The final score was Colyton 9 -0 Uffculme.

Players of the match went to Beattie and Camarra, well done to everyone who played.

Our Under 14 team travelled to Marjon University in Plymouth for the Devon Hockey competition. Playing against Maynard first, Colyton started well and pressed well as a team, but unfortunately, were not able to convert any of their chances. Maynard countered well and the game finished Colyton 0-1 Maynard.

In the second game, we played against Torquay Girls Grammar School in a very tightly contested game. Both teams battled extremely well, and the game finished 0-0. In our third and fourth games, we against Exeter School and Blundells, and lost to those very strong competitors. In our final game, we played against Plymouth College with both teams again working tirelessly, and this game finished 1-1.

A fantastic day out, well done to everyone involved. Players of the tournament went to Lottie S in goal and Molly.

In another trip to Marjon University, our Under 16 team took part in the Devon Competition. Under pressure from the first whistle in their first game against Maynard, the opposition pressed well up the pitch and created numerous scoring opportunities. We came into our own towards the end of the game, managing to score in the final minutes, with the match ending with a score of 1-1.

In our second game, we played Plymouth College. We played fiercely, creating numerous opportunities up the pitch, and keeping our opposition in their half the entire game. Unfortunately, we were not able to convert any of those opportunities and the game finished 0-0. Next up was a tightly contested game against Torquay Girls Grammar School. Both teams worked incredibly hard up and down the pitch. We had opportunities to score but couldn’t convert our chances. Torquay Girls Grammar School converted one of their short corners, and the game finished 0-1 to TGGS.

In our final game, we played Mount Kelly. The girls were extremely tired at this point but continued to dig deep and work hard. They managed to convert their chances this time, with Ellie J scoring a fantastic goal.

With two draws, a loss, and a win, Colyton finished 3rd overall in the Devon Competition. Player of the tournament went to Ellie J who worked tirelessly the entire day. Well done to everyone involved.

In another away game, our Under 13 team went to Blundells to take part in a Devon Tournament. We faced tough competition from mostly private schools. However, the team worked hard and improved game by game. Special mention to Lottie and Ellie G for being voted as players player.
