Our first Netball team recently travelled to Kings to take part in the East Devon Tournament. Unfortunately, only Kings and Sidmouth were able to raise a team, but the weather was kind to us for some quality netball matches.

First up, we played Kings who were very drilled and certainly up for a competitive match. We started well with some good combinations in mid court and strong defence from Aoife and Lucy. However, Kings capitalised on some of our errors and their consistent shooting led them to take the lead 8-4 by half time. Immy’s strong shooting and effort in the circle allowed us to have more success early on in the second half, but a physical King’s side finished with a 18-8 win.

We started strongly against Sidmouth, trying some new combinations in attack. The new Year 12 additions to our squad demonstrated great composure, working the ball well through the court and making some excellent interceptions. The game finished 16-5 to Colyton.

After a few more training sessions, the girls will be back in action at the Under 19 Devon Open Competition, which is held at Exeter University.
