Oriel C, Year 12, has been selected to join a national choir which is a fantastic achievement.  Oriel comments:

“Following a recommendation from my piano teacher and choirmaster at Colyton Church, I applied for an audition at the Millenium Youth Choir which took place on Monday 15th July during school via Zoom. The Millenium Youth Choir is one of the Royal School of Church Music’s choirs which regularly goes on week-long residentials to amazing cathedrals around the UK. After singing a soprano solo (Mendelssohn’s ‘Hear My Prayer’), singing a piece at sight, reciting some Latin – and shortly after being asked to translate it! – I was accepted into the choir and invited to this year’s residential: five days of singing in Norwich Cathedral. I hope to keep singing with them until I am 23 (the choir’s age range is from 16-23) and I am hugely excited to meet the director and other singers in August. Thank you to Mrs Lester for allowing me to use the recital room for this audition and to Nick Brown, my choirmaster, for arranging the audition and accompanying me”.

We would also like to congratulate many students on their recent success in music grade exams:

Rachel (Y10), Amber (Y10) and Eve (Y9) – grade 7 piano

Iris (Y9) – grade 7 violin

Eleanor (Y9) – grade 7 flute

Rafe, Ottilie and Faye (Y12) – grade 8 music theory
