News - May 3

The Year 7/8 teams from Cedar and Beech kicked off the Semi-Final stages of the Colyton Grammar School University Challenge.

The top seeded Cedar were up against the fourth seeded Beech for the place in the Grand Finals, with Cedar starting strong with some excellent interruptions to starter questions and generally rapid buzzer pressing.

Beech rallied with an answer identifying Hippopotomonstresesquippedaliophbia as the fear of long words and displaying a knowledge of angora wool. Cedar overall were very quick on the buzzers and gained more bonus questions working well when conferring to gain the points.

The final score was Cedar 110 to Beech 25. Commiserations to Beech who now leave the competition and well done to Cedar who progress to the Grand Final on 10th July.

Next week, the Year 7/8 teams from Ash and Elm will compete.
