Our Under 16 netball teams recently played their finals fixture against Sidmouth College. The A Team played extremely well against the Sixth Form side in a very close match. Rosie B put in a solid performance as GD leading to many turnovers. The game really was end-to-end with strong performances from both teams. The final score was 10-9 to Sidmouth. The girls certainly held their own against the older side and we look forward to the Under 18 fixtures next year. The B team demonstrated fantastic composure and consistency throughout which led them to the 22-10 win. The girls were versatile in their positions which meant substitutions were able to come on and have an impact at both ends of the court. Sophia B’s shooting was impressive throughout and the girls had a really enjoyable game. As the netball season comes to an end, Miss Hunt and Miss Thorpe would like to congratulate Year 11 for their commitment to netball and note that the girls’ support for each other on and off the court has been so pleasing to see.

Two of our Year 7 teams travelled to Woodroffe to take part in some friendly matches against Year 7 and 8s from both Woodroffe and Sidmouth. The girls were very excited to take part and their enthusiasm to play was great to see. Team One put in some strong performances, winning several games. The tournament allowed different combinations to be tried ahead of the upcoming East Devon Tournament. There was a stand-out performance from Sofia M with her fantastic shooting. Team Two also played well together, building on their dodging skills and consistency of passing as the matches went on. Victoria M played very well as GK, getting lots of rebounds. We look forward to seeing the girls back in action at St Peters and Kings soon.

Our Under 13 team travelled to Collumpton to participate in their East Devon Netball tournament. Having played each of the teams involved in the league this term, Colyton knew it would be challenging afternoon.

First up, the team faced Sidmouth, and after a slow start, we started to build in confidence and the game finished Sidmouth 1-9 Colyton. Next, we played Honiton and continued our good form from the previous game, with the match finishing Honiton 0 – 10 Colyton. The final game in our pool was against Kings, and this was a very evenly matched game in the first half with the scores at 5-3. However, in the second half we pushed on and were clinical in the shooting circle. Colyton finished as their pool winners and didn’t lose a game.

In the semi-final, we faced Axe Valley and trailed by one goal at half time. Once again, the girls showed fantastic determination and excellent teamwork, coming back to win the game 9-5.

In the final game, we faced Exmouth, who were very strong the previous time that we faced them in the league. Colyton were fantastic in defence, turning the ball over numerous times and progressing up the court allowing our shooters opportunities to score. The game was very evenly matched in the second half, with both teams scoring when they had possession. Unfortunately, the opposition scored in the final few seconds of the game and the final finished Exmouth 7-6 Colyton.

Colyton finished the Under 13 East Devon Netball Tournament as runners up. Well done to everyone involved, the player of the tournament when to Peggy J.

The Under 13 girls have had a fantastic season of netball, and we cannot wait to see them progress even further next year.
