News - Dec 12
On Wednesday 6th December, A Level Music student and some of our Sixth Form musicians attended a performance by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in the Lighthouse Arts Centre Poole. Year 12 music students tell us about the experience:
“After a delicious meal at Pizza Express, we settled down in our seats, which not only afforded us a clear view but also, we could hear the interweaving musical lines and harmonies. The orchestra were performing Brahm’s “Double Concerto for Violin and Cello” and Mahler’s “Symphony Number 1 in D”. The off-stage brass, with the virtuosic timpani part ensured kept us spell-bound through the piece which lasts an hour! Thank you to Mrs Lester for the musical commentary and analysis lesson on the minibus journey and to Dr Rorke for driving. We felt it was “an eye-opening, educational experience.”
