The Woodland Trust recently spearheaded a green initiative at Colyton Grammar School, donating 30 saplings for planting within our grounds. This collaborative effort aimed to enhance the school environment, promote biodiversity, and instil a sense of ecological stewardship among students.

The diverse mix of native trees, carefully selected by The Trust, promises to create a vibrant and sustainable woodland area on the school premises. The planting organised by the school’s Green Society served as an educational opportunity, with students actively participating in the process, learning about tree species and the significance of preserving natural habitats. Students were very excited to plant and name their own individual saplings with names such as: Groot, Treebeard, Leaf Skystalker and of course the Green Societree!

The symbolic act of planting these saplings not only beautifies the school’s landscape but also marks a tangible commitment toward a greener, more environmentally conscious future for the entire school community.
