Colyton Grammar School took part in Maths Week England, and we would like to pass on our congratulations to all.

Over 700 students took part in puzzles, competitions, art and other activities. On the Friday of the week, 20 students battled it out to solve a Rubik’s cube in the fastest time. Ewan B won in just under 10 seconds, which was amazingly quick! Jamie R and Joh F completed it in just over 20 seconds. It was particularly pleasing to have some beginners also giving it a go.

The winners of the school competition were as follows:

The A3 art competition on the theme “Three is a magic number” was won by two students, Ryan R and Victoria M in Year 7.

The amazing entry for the video competition was won by Samuel B in Year 8 and his video can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFUgTETVCGI . The way in which he incorporated the number 3 with his animation skills is fantastic.

The last competition was ‘Choose the smallest positive multiple of 3, which no other person chooses’. What would you have chosen? 3 might be tempting, but it was the number 30 which Zion G chose to win.
