Students take part in Football, Rugby, Basketball and shooting competitions
BackNews - Dec 4
Recently, our Under 13 boys football team took part in a thrilling match against Tavistock. Colyton started fast, scoring three goals in the first 10 minutes, seemingly in control. Despite this fast start, Tavistock responded with two goals before half time, continuing the second half much like they had ended the first, scoring a quick goal which levelled the game.
Both sides had opportunities, but Colyton were the more clinical scoring two goals in the final stages of the game which ultimately ended 5-3. Well done to the team, we are looking forward to the next round.
In Rugby, the Year 10 side entertained Holyrood at home, securing a well-fought 24-5 victory. Despite a few players playing out of position, there was good competition at the breakdown, enabling the back line to move the ball wide on several occasions.
Notable performances from Bailey S on the wing and James A in the back row. A solid team performance, well done.
A team of nine Year 11 students went to Exeter College to take part in a basketball tournament against other schools in Exeter and East Devon. The team went unbeaten winning all their games. An amazing achievement.
Colyton 18 – 10 Uffculme
Colyton 13 – 6 Tiverton
Colyton 14 – 5 St James
Colyton 18 – 6 West Exe
We must also congratulate Year 9 student Ellie J who came a fantastic eighth out of 50 competitors in the South West Final for Pistol Shooting. This is a great achievement.
