Students receive commendation in John Locke Institute Essay Competition

The John Locke Institute is an independent education organisation that works to embolden the best and brightest students to become more academically ambitious and more intellectually adventurous.  

Every year, this prestigious body holds an essay competition assessed by a panel of senior academics drawn from leading universities including Oxford and Princeton. Encouraged by Ms Rust, teacher of Economics, Ethan P and Ben M ,both Year 13, entered an essay to answer one of three set questions such as, ‘What would happen if we banned billionaires?’, and ‘A government funds its own expenditure by taxing its population. Suppose, instead, it relied solely on money newly created by the central bank? What would be the advantages and/or disadvantages?’.  

Both Ethan P and Ben M received a commendation for their essays. Congratulations to both on this outstanding achievement. The three winning essays came from students in Singapore, Australia and China.
