Students enjoy various music clubs
BackNews - Sep 19
As the new term began we saw, or rather ‘heard, the return of various music clubs and ensembles. It was particularly encouraging to see the number of Year 7 pupils who have joined as well as the veterans of Year 13 for whom this will hopefully be more of an ‘adieu’ than ‘farewell’ year.
Clubs include three choirs, two orchestras and two jazz bands, as well as some groups such as ‘Colyfolk’, our folk band, Colyton Wind Orchestra and ‘Compose Yourself’, an after-school composition club.
We have a busy programme of events this academic year, and rehearsals have begun. For the first week back, the sound was fantastic and very musical especially with everyone sight-reading.
Instrumental lessons have also started up and for some instruments, there are waiting lists. With over 300 lessons each week, Miss Salter has done a great job of making sure that things got up and running smoothly.
