Athletics, Rounders and Cricket success for Colyton Grammar School students
BackNews - Jun 6
Alongside their schoolwork, a number of Colyton Grammar School students greatly enjoy taking part in a variety of sporting events and recently many have enjoyed success in their chosen pursuits.
In athletics, Year 7 students recently took part in their first event. The carefully selected eight boys and eight girls all had to take part in one track and one field event. There were some excellent performances by all, with George and Erynn winning the determination medal. Both our girls and our boys team dominated in the 4x100m relay which is very promising as the students go into the East Devon Championships. Well done to everyone who took part.
Our under-15 cricket team recently took on the Honiton team, finishing the game with a win. Honiton batted first, scoring 92 for 8 of 20 overs. Our team then batted extremely well to reach the required 93 off just 15 overs for a loss of 3 wickets.
In rounders, our under-15 team travelled to Uffculme for the East Devon Rounders Tournament. Due to the bank holidays, the team had not had much training together, but they were able to draw on their experience from last year and demonstrated some fantastic batting and fielding throughout their five matches. After three wins, a draw and just one loss against Honiton, the team finished the tournament in second place. Well done girls.
