At Colyton Grammar School’s first Culture Day, students were invited to wear cultural clothing, and they took this opportunity to celebrate clothes from their different countries, cultures, and communities.

The day culminated in a vibrant and dynamic Culture Fair in Cottrill Hall, where groups of students had organised various culture stalls, selling food and displaying information, objects, music, and fun activities. The fair was a massive success, with the hall packed for the majority of lunchtime with students getting the opportunity to visit over 20 different stalls.

I would like to extend my thanks to all the students who helped to organise stalls, both for the time and effort they put into their stalls and their willingness and courage to share their culture with others. Diversity can only be celebrated with the input of lots of different people and the buzzing atmosphere in the hall and engagement with the Culture Fair across the school community stand testament to the fact that by working together, we achieve more than we achieve alone. Special thanks to Mr Braithwaite and Miss Tucker for aiding with the logistics of the day, and their consistent support of the school’s inclusivity groups.

I hope, with the triumph of this event, that it can continue into the future, as a marker of our school’s willingness to celebrate differences!
