Our Under 15s Rugby 7s team recently competed in the Devon 7s tournament, performing outstandingly. In the group stages, the team won against St Peter’s, Sidmouth and QECC, only losing out to Blundell’s, meaning that they finished second in the group and progressed to the semi-finals.

They then overcame a strong Uffculme team, becoming one of the top two teams progressing to the Devon finals. Due to the RFU’s regulations regarding tournament minutes played at an Under 15s level, we were unable to play the final game, nevertheless, our team was declared joint winners of the tournament. An outstanding achievement and we wish them the best at their next game.

Also, in Rugby 7s, our under 14s team displayed some amazing talent at East Devon Rugby 7s, hosted at Blundell’s. It was impressive to see the team move the ball away from the contact and look for offloads at any opportunity, keeping the ball ‘alive’. Sadly, we were knocked out of the competition by the Blundell’s team, who went on to become the eventual winners. Nevertheless, our boys’ efforts could not be faulted, scoring a total of 15 tries on the day. Our results were as follows.

QECC 20 – Colyton 21

Colyton 17 – Honiton 12

Uffculme 7 – Colyton 28

Cullompton 12 – Colyton 19

Colyton 14 – Blundell’s 29

Well done to all involved.
