Year 13 in Formula 1 Success
Congratulations to Eliane, Charlie, Ian, Jake, Anthony and Alex whose team Hawk Racing were placed 3rd in UK National Final of the F1 in Schools competition in Silverstone, and in doing so will represent the UK as part of an International Collaboration team in the World Finals, held this year in Singapore.
F1 in Schools is an International Competition where teams have to build, test and race a model car in a 20m drag race, in Regional, National & International Competitions. Teams follow a similar process to real F1 Teams, and creating a business plan, designing a pit display and raising significant sponsorship is as key to the competition as creating the car.
40 teams competed at the National Finals, with over 100 at the regional levels, and only the top 3 progress to the World Finals. As the 3rd placed UK team, Hawk now have the opportunity to form an international collaboration with half of the members from another team, possibly from Australia or Germany (F1 in Schools is recognised worldwide).
Hawk Racing are grateful to their sponsors: EnvisionTec, Identity Group UK, Metalysis, MSC, Barden Bearings, SAK Logistics, Design Flow Plymouth and Watson Fuels. The team would welcome any new sponsors on board to help propel them to the World Finals, and is looking forward to forming an International Collaboration Team to compete in Singapore in September.
