LAUNCHING ROCKETS IN THE SNOW – A FUN-FILLED DAY AT THE NLO!
Preparing for launch – just as the snow begins to fall!
It was another successful day of hands-on science outreach for the Colyton 6th form outreach team this science week, though it was the first time that they have ever had to launch rockets in the snow!

Mr Lynch and Mrs Fitzhenry accompanied 15 year 12 and 13 helpers to the Norman Lockyer Observatory Family day this year for a day packed with hands-on science fun.

Visitors were able to hear church bells using nothing but forks and a piece of string, they were encouraged to trick their eyes into thinking that the world around them was expanding, and they were able to test whether sub-zero temperatures affect rocket launches!
