CONNECTING STEM TEACHERS
Since joining the Royal Academy of Engineering's Connecting STEM Teachers programme in April 2015, Mr Cronk, who is Head of Computer Science, has developed a network of secondary school teachers and university contacts, industrial and commercial partners, as well as a regional hub for STEM learning. He has a passion for robotics and for encouraging students to learn modern programming skills.
Mr Cronk has hosted a STEM challenge in school, inviting students from Devon, Dorset, Cornwall and Somerset to get together and take part in robotics activities. This year he has also worked with primary and secondary colleagues on a range of initiatives.
Recent work has included training teachers from eight local primary schools in using a resource created in conjunction with the RAF, called Aiming for Awesome to celebrate 100 years of engineering since the founding of the RAF.
